Just how rubbish were Roger Moore's James Bond films?

He plays a bit of a slimey sleazeball of a Bond. He wasn't helped by the ridiculous writing/direction/whatever e.g. allowing him to have a gondola that turned into red & white striped hovercraft.

I saw OHMSS the other week, and was confused the whole way through for one point: Bond pretends to be Sir Hillary, Blofeld pretends to be Count de Camembert... but both have met in previous films! What the hell's the point of pretending to be someone else?

actually we dont know where he was born, fleming nevvr actually said but he had a scottish father and a swiss mother and attended eton for a spell before fettes in scotland.

OHMSS is the most true to the novel bond film there has been. In the novel Bond has not previously met Blofeld and does go undercover as Sir Hilary Bray.

I suspected it would be a case of the previous films creating the confusion, rather than OHMSS itself.

Bond's comments in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' and 'You only Live Twice' (novels) suggest he considers himself a Scotsman. The only reference I can think of in the films to Bond's nationality is when Sheriff JW Pepper desribes him as the English secret agent.

Aparently he picked his own clothes in the Pretenders. Not sure about the bond films

and this chap might have been good in the role

I personally think that the current bond is one of the best. Timothy Dalton was great and so was Lazenby (sp?)

He was a bond for his time. as is mr Craig, i dont think either are good or particularly bad they reflect the era they represent when people look back 20 years in the future.
