Grand Designs - 25th March 2009

Another revisit I'm afraid :

The unusual two storey house is built around a spiral staircase carved out of an 800 year old oak tree trunk, the centrepiece of an interior that draws inspiration from Tolkein's Hobbit. But this Herculean journey is far from easy....



Can't remember seeing this one 1st time round. Looks 'interesting' . And of course there is the inevitable overspend :

The Cost

Estimated Budget : £350,000
Final Budget : £700,000

I'm sure they make up these original estimates to spice things up when they 'overspend' !

Bloody "revisits", no doubt the one they had been following has had trouble finishing with the crunch.

This one was ok, a bit "bodge it and scarper", but i seem to remember the guy was pretty handy with a router (wood working, not internet!)

Unfortunately the guy makes a point seeing as it'll be 55 mins of the previous show and 5 mins of 'new' material.

I wouldn't mind but they showed the original episode just last week.

I know the recession is bad, but jobsharing thread starting duties is pushing it, besides, it'll just lead to problems. He'll be criticising your OP, you'll be moaning about his start time..... and as for organising holiday cover, forget it.

I only watched this on E4/More 4 the other week......

I wish they spent a bit more time on the re-visit actually giving us info about how the house has performed etc.. and any features they would have changed and basically just not spending so much time repeating last years episode and dressing it up as a "new" series.
