Random sci-fi film question

Can anyone remember a film in which people from the future (where everyone is dying of radiation or somesuch) use a big stargate-style device to travel back and abduct people who were about to die in plane crashes etc to repopulate the earth?
I remember a scene in which the back end of a plane is sticking out of a big white vortex thing and people being led away?
I know the film freejack has a similar plot but it definitely wasnt't that!

Can recommend the book - much better than the movie. Also explains some of the scenes which make no sense in the movie, like the guy who looks into the cabin and screams "They're all dead, all burnt up."
No way this scene makes any sense without reading the book![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Also lots more about the characters, and their names, like Sherman (built like a) Tank.

That's the one! Thanks, that's been driving me nuts. One of those films you see on late night tv and never see the end of!Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
