A scene in a film, am i dreaming ?

I Sat down last night and watched all 3 X men films, I have been invited to the opening of a new Cinema and the film tonight is the latest X-Men, I watched all the films when they came out but could have sworn there is a long scene missing from the second film. I could be wrong. I used to work as a projectionist for the Cinema chain who invited me tonight so between 1995 and 2002 i watched pretty much all the new films as they came out so I might be way off with the idea the scene I will describe below is from X -Men, anyway, here goes.
The scene is of a character, probably a man, who is alone in a wilderness of some sort. It is possibly snowy. He is searching for the facility that created him/made him special/gave him powers or he has escaped from said facility. he makes a fire and forages raw materials and forges/smelts iron andmakes from scratch metal tools to use against enemies, He possibly makes a sword or knives. From my recollection he is wolverine like, rangy sort of look. he is possibly persued closely.
I had all the above in my mind when I watched the trilogy last night, I remember the scene because it looked good and was interesting to see metal tools/weapons made from bits and fire. The scene was not in any of the films, i was awake for all three !
Now I want to know if I imagined it or if I am thinking of a different film altogether.

There is only 1 film I can think of where a man is on the run and makes his own wepons.
Specifically knives as he is a specialist knife assasin(of course they exist). films ok, not a masterpiece has Del toro in so worth a watch. He does at one point forge his own knife from raw materials with a fire.
The bloke after him makes his own flint knife.
