We've had plenty of other 'show us your' topics but which PHer has the best DVD collection?

I'll get the ball rolling:

The only thing I would say I actually collect... Comedy DVD's, well over 100 comedy series there now:

And the rather more random collection of Film and TV:

Go then I'm sure somebody will beat that.

Over seven years it aint too bad, I think about £2k on the comedy (120+ seperate purchases averaging around £15 - complete series and multi box sets cost more).

With regards to the films and TV I only ever buy stuff thats on offer, 3 for £20 etc. Probably another £1k on that though (well over 100 films and some TV box sets)

Oh God! looking at those numbers has made it real! £3 Grand!!!!!! Oh dear.

Here is my collection:

Doors Closed:

Open:

Top Half:

Bottom Half:

It is a mixture of DVD's and some recent Blu Rays in the collection.

There are some comedy TV shows in there, Bollywood movies (bottom shelf) and the rest are mostly Hollywood movies.

All alphabetically stored in a custom made cabinet with glass fronted doors.

Here's mine online collection - about 440 films.

Tend to get rid of the cases and store the disks in a flight case -saves a lot of room! Slowly ripping them to WHS and streaming them with popcorn hour.

I'm afraid my DVD collection doesn't look as impressive as anything
shown so far as it just comprises a 2"x5" silver box and some pretty
lights.

It is 2009 folks.. smile

RE the above two posts.

I really like having all of the shiny boxes lined up, I could have downloaded it all or transferred it to PC but that doesn't look very good.

I guess for me it kind of justifies the AV system and vice versa.

Some really nice collections here!!

I'm a sucker for buying DVD's and have been doing so since getting my first player way back in 1998 (can't believe its been that long!), between my wife (who is equally as sad as me) and I we've amassed a collection of about 1,100 (or enough to fill 5 Billy bookcases!!). We go thought literally hours of arguments when trying to decide on something to watch and usually end up watching nothing.

All this talk of on demand replacing DVD/BR worries me and I really hope it doesn’t take off, I like the idea of having something tangible for my money, even if it does cost a little more.

I will try and get some pic up today, but their so badly organised at the moment!

Although I'll be opening myself up to some serious mocking, as my wifes rather lame collection of films and TV are mixed in with mine, I mean, Dude Where my Car?, what was she thinking!!

My very modest collection bear in mind that the pics were taken with my phone.

Anime

TV, world cinema and horror

]

horror and action

incomplete collection of the Sopranos.

I'm currently missing the Batman and Hostel boxset as well as American Psycho and Knocked up, as they've been leant to various friends and flatmates.

Oh by the way I agree with the guy's comment above. Dude where's my car is fking st I hate that film.

Knocked into a cocked hat by some here, but here is my humble collection:

A mere two hundred and seventy seven DVDs.

And yes, those units are from Argoose.

Thank you. It's the film version I have, at the time I didn't bother buying the anime version since it's only 40 minutues long and doesn't really elaborate on any of the characters. Still, just checked Play.com and it's only £3 scratchchin Ichi is good but I wouldn't say it's one of the best films I've ever seen, the ending did'n make much sense to me, but the first time I saw the hook and pan of hot oil was pretty shocking. Not as shocking though when Kakihara slices off his own tounge to make amends for his mistake on torturing the wrong person yikes
