Channel 4, Tuesday, 8pm.

Should be interesting to say the least...

(They're even calling it 'Property Snakes and Ladders')

I am looking forward to it.

I assume this time we'll see people losing shedloads due to the property crash and their mistakes rather than those who make mistakes but due to property price rises still make a mint.

I'm not a huge fan, but this series looks like proper car crash tv, so I might give it a go!

I am really looking forward to this. Hopefully it'll be a complete antidote to most of the "anyone can do it, we can all be millionaires" type programs

Sort the selfish "doing it because we like it" developers only making profits because the market rises from those who set a budget and work to stick to it as closely as possible, who don't buy silly extras and keeps track of what they can sell/rent at.

So look out for anyone buying a hot tub, designer toilets or turning a 4 bed into a 3bed.

It'll also sort the people who believe everything they see on TV - from those who know better wink

You dont think the developers actually pay (or pay full price) for these types of things do you.

To have a unique product placed into a prime time show is probably worth more to the company than the product itself and would easily warrant a big discount - or an ex-showroom donation.

Of course they do, they aren't "developers" they are almost always Mr & Mrs Joe Public giving house renovation a go because they have seen others do it. If they get any discount it is only what any other member of the public might get if they were lucky.

You never see the purchases of the designer gear because they are always purchased whilst Sarah isn't there and you don't see where they are bought from so it gives no free advertising to anyone.

I'm sorry but you are wrong. The designer gear itself is the advert and the companies that supply get a mention on the C4 website (and in the end credits too I think). Look here for an example:

http://www.channel4.com/4homes/on-tv/property-ladd...

The developers on the show get things at significant discount and even for free in some cases. Of course they cant tell you this on the show because it is supposed to be "reality" TV

The prices quoted on the show is what YOU would have to pay if you wanted to do the same thing. Its not what the developers actually paid.

It's good to be king wink

At least we shouldn't be hearing the usual 'But if they'd done absolutely nothing to the house, it would have increased in value by x'

If they'd done nothing to the house - they wouldn't have had a programme.

Not this time.. But my firm favorite was the one where she said, If you'd done nothing you'd stand to make a profit of (guess figure) 80k. After your works, the profit you now stand to make is (another guess, but you get the idea) 20k............... And of course, she had told them not to do the works, then helpfully reminded them that....biggrin

Simply sitting on a house and waiting for the market to rise isnt property developing though. What price can you put on the experience gained by actually developing the property.

Also you should bear in mind that hindsight is a wonderful thing, its something the developers dont have the advantage of (whereas in a lot of cases the producers of the show do). The sequence of events you see on the show isnt necessarily the order in which they were filmed - see this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBwepkVurCI
