I didn't want to read the other thread in case it spoilt it - but is it worth seeing?

Empire seem to like it but I have gathered some on here hate it...

I'm not really a Trekkie, but I liked the original series and the first few of the films.

Is it a nice romp along the original lines or is it totally up its own arse the way so many of the films go?

I just got back from watching it and I enjoyed it a lot, in fact the whole family enjoyed it including the Wife and none of them are treckies.

I really enjoyed it!

I think it's an ace film but not a great Star Trek film if that makes sense!?

I'm a "modern" Trekkie, ie I loved TNG, DS9 etc but couldn't give a stuff about the original series.

Loved the film.

Its the best film I have seen since the Dark Knight last summer, and its probably the best Sci Fi film this decade. Moving, funny, action packed, fantastic cast and special effects, definitely see it.

It was good but I think it was missing something at the end.

Good and funny in places but I just was a bit disappointed at the end.

Oh well, thats JJ Abrams for you.

It's a good film and the portrayal of the lead characters was very well done, in the main (esp. Chekov).

If I was to criticise it, I would say there wasn't enough continuity with the TV show's Bridge set and sound effects, but these things wouldn't be noticed/missed by non-Star Trek fans.

same here, never enjoyed the original series but this film was fantastic (although I did enjoy the Kirk-crew films)

I just don't get why they can't just do something new and creative, if they want to do it.

I thought they could have abandoned all the old universe entirely and the film would still have been good.

Far too much re-use of old material to try make popular new films. The new Terminator film was the same to a certain extent. Hey ho.

Saw it on release and just saw it again on IMAX..............wow

It has enough of Star Trek to be Trek but has several twists to open up sequels. I though McCoy (Karl Urban) was especially good.

The IMAX was at Kennedy Space Centre after a rocket launch so made it pretty special.
