Mad Max: 10pm on Five
Discussion
Just a quick note, one of the greatest petrol head films ever made is on Five at 10pm.
If you're a PHer and you haven't seen it then shame on you! Sorry I mean watch and love this classic.

^^^^^^ The opening scene is worth watching it for alone.
And then he gets his hands on this:

"I'm a fuel injected suicide machine!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That Black supercharged thing is a beast. It seems to me that he had to be doing about 100mpg just to get enough power to get that blower working! I simply cannot imagine how many small birds and bugs that thing has eaten......
i watched it too. those old bikes show how much they have come on don't they.....

Do you know, I've never seen this film....
Then shame on you!!!!!Seriously, go and pick up Mad Max and Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior for a couple of quid each on DVD, turn you volume up to the maximum and enjoy.
You'll never be able to look at a V8 car again without saying (in an Aussie accent):
"Last of the V8 interceptors... real nice, would've been a shame to blow it up"

But whatever you do, don't watch Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.Jasandjules said:

To say it's a letdown from the first two is an understatement.
Mad Max 4 has been one the cards for years now, rumour has they've started filming...

One of my favourite films of all time, the chase scene at the beginning is superb. One of the few films where they used the real engine noises rather than dubbing over some crap.

The Toecutter - he knows who I am. I am the Nightrider! I am the chosen one. The mighty hand of vengeance, sent down to strike the unroadworthy! I'm hotter than a rollin' dice. Step right up, germ, and watch the kid lay down the rubber road, ride to freedom!

Have you got the original Aussie version, or the American overdub that was the International release?Nightrider said:

The car sounds are the same, its just the voices that are different. The later DVD's have options in the language for both versions.

I know the special effects man who worked on this , he told me that he drove from Sydney to Melbourne in his VW beetle with the explosives in it . It was only when he reached the outskirts of Melbourne that he felt any danger . Mainly from other drivers !
There is pre production now for a further instalment to be known as " Fury Road ". Either starting early to mid next year .
