Hanks and Spielberg are at it again. I thought Band of Brothers was some of the best TV I've ever seen and was quite excited when I read (a while back now - 2-3 years ago, I think) that they were considering doing a "companion" series about the war in the Pacific. I'd rather given up on it so this is welcome news.

Scheduled for Spring 2010. Looks very promising....

That looks great!

Just watching BoB again (and on blu-ray now.) It's ace.

March in the States so hopefully the same month for us

Did anyone notice it will be on Sky movies rather than Sky 1

Good for me as no ad breaks but crafty move on their front if you don't have the film package.

Wiki reckons March 14th but Sky Movies still say "Spring".

This will only be on Sky Movies - not Sky 1. (And the internets obviously!) One good thing though is that its simoultaneous in the US and UK.

It sounds from the Hanks/Spielberg featurette on youtube that it's a composite storyline centred around two chaps that wrote books of their experiences, and one other guy. It's going to be weird getting to know a bunch of new characters as well as Winters and co. – and it's hard to believe BoB was filmed over 10 years ago! I've just started watching it through for at least the 10th time. No other TV series has come close to it in terms of visceral engagement with characters and the war. Yay!

I've been waiting for this for ages. It was one of the reasons I got Sky. Then they alienate all the people who don't have movies/HD.

Sky..your business ethic stinks. I won't be upgrading (I'll wait for the DVD), but in a few months when the contract runs out..bye bye Sky.
