Anyone see this last night?
Hats of to the guys to have the balls to risk life and limb on such a trek. Even the training was completly hardcore. 60 mins in a freezing tank to bring on hypothermia. -35 freezer at MIRA to simulate the conditions.
Amazing stuff, looking forward to next weeks episode.

Thought it was absolutely brilliant
I didn't realise it was a series - I assumed it was a one-off hour program (especially as they started the race at the beginning of the show) but then it all made sense.
I watched (and really enjoyed) the rowing one they did too, so this one looks like it's going to be great also! It's well produced also.
Can't wait for the rest! I'm determined not to look on the itnernet and find the result of both whether Johnny joins them, and where they came in the race and how they got on.

Well we certainly know he makes it - the first shots of the first program (last week) were of him at the start, and as they started walking they then went back to 18months earlier and the story's progressed from there.
Ed (the new guy) seems like a good bloke and a perfect match for the 2 of them!
I'm still trying not to look on the official website of the race and see what happened

How bad are Jame's feet, he seems quite stubborn and wouldnt take Ben or Ed's advice to keep checking his feet and look where its ended up.
Brilliant programme though, how cool are those Norweigens too! Rocking up 4 hours in front of Ben, James and Ed after they busted 120k's in 2 days.

Agreed, it's absolutely compelling viewing!
James obviously has the attitude that got him 2 olympic golds, and is just plodding on and on and on and on - to the detriment of his health and his team mate's moral.
Awesome specatacle though, and with all the talk of James' ills, you forget just how ill Ben was barely a month before leaving and as a result how little training he was able to do.

Yeh, its amazing that James and Ed seem to be suffering from altitude sickness - manifesting itself through the coughs, yet Ben seems to be the strongest out of the three at the moment.James obviously has the attitude that got him 2 olympic golds, and is just plodding on and on and on and on - to the detriment of his health and his team mate's moral.

I was completely engrossed by this last night. Amazing how such a harsh landscape looks so serene... and to see 15 months training battered in under a week.
During my degree I looked at sleep deprivation, how people push their bodies (mainly related to track athletes) and the psychology behind it. To see it in this environment was amazing.
When's the next programme on? (Sky+ was having a fit last night and wouldn't series link).
Anyone still in touch with Polar Ben? Would love to know his thoughts on this...

James also was a bit unfair on Ed at the start, with Ed's negativityBrilliant programme though, how cool are those Norweigens too! Rocking up 4 hours in front of Ben, James and Ed after they busted 120k's in 2 days.
but then James was definately NOT a team player by ignoring his feet
if he'd got a bad infection on his feet, then Ed and Ben wouldv'e been pulling him and his pulk to the check point
- and those Norwegians

but would've thought everyone should've been issued with a map highliting the crevasse fields as an area to avoid
