So, I've not long finished watching Man on Fire. Great film, and another great performance from Denzel Washington.

It got me thinking - pretty much every film with Denzel Washington, that I've seen, has always been really good. Obviously, I haven't seen all his films, but most of his recent ones have always impressed me.

I'm not sure if it's just 'cause he's a genuinely good actor, and makes the films, or whether the films are just well written anyway.

Jack Nicholson is another.

If I see certain names pop up, I'll watch the film, regardless of what the synopsis says.

Righteous Kill was a stinker!

I'd say Gael Garcia Bernal

Funnily enough I can't think of a stinker that Jodie Foster has been in.

Agreed.

Also agree with Gael Garcia Bernal.

I would add Sophie Guillemin.

Christian Bale has a very good record considering he is in so many films. Also of course I would put Steven Seagal and Van Damme in there.

Denzel Washington did the Manchurian Candidate. Fail.

I'll let you have Christian Bale though although he wasn't great in the latest Terminator flick, hope that improves for T5

Woody Allen

Gary Oldman?

Harrison Ford?

Bruce Willis?

Can't think of a bad Tom Hanks film right now either.

Gary Oldman = Lost in Space

Harrison Ford = Sabrina

Bruce Willis = Hudson Hawk

Tom Hanks = I hate him with a passion but to dominate a particular stinker, I'd say Joe Versus the Volcano

He has been in some top quality flicks...

'The Da Vinci Code' was friggin' terrible though.... And it's sequel..... And 'The Terminal' was pretty poor too...

Fair point(s).

This is harder than it looks.

I was going to say Jean Reno or Tim Robbins but I subsequently remembered the new Pink Panther and War of the Worlds respectively.

Shanghai Surprise

I really think it's going to be impossible to come up with an actor who hasn't been in some rubbish to pay the bills from time to time.

Even if you overlook Meet the Fockers there are still Hook and Ishtar.
