Antichrist - anyone got the stomach?

i quite fancy it, if only for the reason that some moron in the daily wail wanted it banned, even though he hasn't seen it, but is dutifully outraged anyway. what a plank.
sounds like it needs to be watched even if its only to say i didn't like it afterwards, i need to see it to decide.

the times critic [brian appleyard] called for it to be banned, largely as he thought it was ssounds like it needs to be watched even if its only to say i didn't like it afterwards, i need to see it to decide.

the only reason i'd watch it would be for charlotte gainsbourg, but then i can't see a lars von trier film being watchable.

I haven't seen it myself, nor shall I - and I speak as a broad-minded arts critic, strongly libertarian in tendency. But merely reading about Antichrist is stomach-turning, and enough to form a judgment.
he then goes on to say :[quote]The husband and wife go to stay in a log cabin to recover from their grief. There, horrors the likes of which I have never witnessed unfold in graphic detail.

You pride yourself on being broad-minded? I think perhaps you need to be slightly less proud of yourself today. That was a classic piece of closed minded criticism, of a film you haven't seen, giving it a context you don't fully understand, and claiming a lack of morality which you couldn't possibly know - because you haven't watched the film!
It was a hysterical read - and I mean that in the least complimentary way possible.

caught an interview with willem defoe on bbc news last night, 2:30ish. not sure who the interviewer was [black women, really annoying voice] but she was trying to do a paxman on him and rip him to bits, make him justify the film etc. very bizarre attitude to have towards an actor i thought, and so did he. he looked bemused throughout and came off very well [she didn't], i don't know if i'd have had the same patience.
