Possibly the most overlooked Bond film, maybe because it starred George Lazenby. But it is one of the best - best Bond song 'We Have All The Time in the World' by Louis Armstrong, a tough and believable Bond, no gadgets, first Bond ski-chase, Aston Martin V8, Diana Rigg as Bond girl, also first screen appearance of Joanna Lumley, malevolent baddie; and a box office mega-success. It follows the book faithfully.

But never mind saving the world - much more importantly, Lazenby could have saved us all from the Roger Moore era. But he turned down the offer to star in six more Bond films! If he had gone on to polish the role he could have been better than Connery.

Lazenby, you arse!

I don't think you are in the minority that you think. OHMSS is a good Bond Film.

I also Agree Lazenby was better than Moore as bond.

Yep another fan here. Moore was a bit of a comedy Bond.

My dad thinks this is the best James Bond film by a long way.

He is wrong.

I liked the ice racers though.

Roger Moore could have been so much better as Bond, even in the Wild Geese and the Saint Moore played parts where he shows how good he would have been as Bond if that was what the film makers wanted. Lazenby just seemed a bit awkward. I liked Timothy Dalton for what its worth, quite a realistic Bond too.

I do like this Bond film and it is not just because Bond marries Tracy cloud9.

and Brosnan.

I like OHMSS and Lazenby too. Much better than any of the Moore or Brosnan films.

FWIW I think Lazenby and Dalton are both very convincing Bonds, as is Craig.

I hate bond at the best of times but ONMMS is the worst of the lot. He can't act, the plot is awful, the costumes are cheap and nasty, the Telly Savalas, the only decent car in the film is driven by the baddies.

I gave up after the one with the invisible aston.

For a good spy program Radio 4 are doing the George Smiley books.

Its one of the best Bond films because it follows the plot of the book reasonably closely . For those that read, the books are mostly fantastic - still good reads, even today.Well worth investing a bit of time in one.

Shame Connery didn't hang around for OHMSS - it was a great Bond film - with Connery it would probably have been the finest by some margin.

Saw it on the big screen on the recent Bond cinama re-run - the newly mastered release was really effective and the film hardly looked dated.

To the OP, Straight 6 Aston though - this is Pistonheads or were you testing us!

One of my favourites too. Poor old Lazenby really wasn't bad.

I know Muerren well, so it is special to me for its mountain parts.

You're all over-looking the major point here. James Bond = all round hard nut and serial womaniser. He should not get married and for God's sake, he shouldn't bloody well cry! Save yer "new age" softy man crap for another genre!

The story was good, but I found Lazenby too "wooden" and he looked uncomfortable in the role.

Would have been much better with Connery and his amazing foreign accents, could not believe how russian he sounded on Red October hehe

Bond (for that director) wanted wooden tho. The Bond character as interpreted by some is a steely hearted killer. George's first take on the crying scene was quite good in his own words and more deliverable, but the director thought he went too far and didn't want Bond to look too human. So he made George do it again and reign in the emotion.
I like all the Bonds, they were Bonds for different times. I like the current Bond a lot. I hope they stay away from gadgets and crap like that.
