The Watchmen - questions
Discussion
I don't know how I took so long to see this movie, but I just watched it twice. A few things; anyone else think the comedian looked like robert downey jr on steroids. Roshach looks like danny bonaduce too. Who is the woman who plays Miss Jupiter? Not to be too up front, but my god I haven't felt the urge to "rub one out" this bad over any woman since my teens FFS. She is sooooo damned hot and beautiful at the same time. Thank god she showed her body, it was like soft porn FSS, and she had all the good!! I don't get one thing though, when Roshach first went to see Dr Manhattan in the compound he called her Silver Spectre, so what is her name? That or Ms Jupiter? And on the subject of Dr Manhattan, why would they assume he's a God if he was human and had an accident that transformed him to what he is? Why does he speak of myself as a separate entity of humans when he was a human? And why wouldn't any man from within stand in the particle room and make himself the same as Doc Manhattan? What was the deal towards the end in Antartica with the bodies in the chamber who sacrificed themselves.it looked as if he was creating more Dr Manhattans? And what or where did the tiger with horns come from? What was the meaning of the whole pharoah symbolism? Sorry for the long text clump, I'm typing from my blackberry. I loved the movie, idefinately on the top of my list. Oh one more question regarding the smartest man in the world and the meeting he had with the suits about oil? Was he asking them to turn over all their shares or something? Who played ms jupiter/silver spectre whatever her name was? Love the ending, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but great ending I.e. The little brown book
Read the graphic novel or do as I did and download the animated one. It helps it all to make sense. The movie was ok, pretty accurate and in line with the original story. The one thing with the graphic novel animation is that all the voices are done by a guy, the sex scene is extremely wierd.
As Art said, defiantly read the book and all your questions will be answered. But in the meantime I’ll give you my thoughts on your questions...
If you like the movie you should seriously read the book, typing this is making me want to read it again!! Oh, and if you buy the DVD or Bluray don't get the UK version, the US version is the directors cut and about 30 minutes longer.

Her name in actually Laurie Jupiter, but she goes by the alias of Silk Spectre 2, her mother, Sally Jupiter was the original Silk Spectre during the Minutemen era, sally Jupiter was of Polish origin but changed her name to Jupiter to cover it.LotusACBC said:

He was basically forced to work for the USA as a weapon against the soviets, and the media made him out to be God like in order to strike fear into their enemies.LotusACBC said:

He dosen’t see himself as human anymore after he see’s everyone around him aging, once hes blamed for giving people cancer this causes him to leave earth.LotusACBC said:

I can perhaps guess that as he was a watchmaker he understood how things are put together and perhaps managed to put himself back together after the accident, as he did at the end of the film. LotusACBC said:

Once he’d set his plan in motion, he dispatched of his staff, in this book this is done by freezing them by locking them in his biodome then opening it, in the film I think he poisons them and puts the bodies in the chamberLotusACBC said:

Thank you for all the info--especially the picture--she is so hot its unbelievable--- so when did Watchmen the original graphic novel come out?
1986, originally published as 12 monthly comics by DC then as a trade paperback, a collection of the original 12 is worth quite a bit I believe.Edited by philwhite on Tuesday 28th July 15:30
One thing about Dr Manhattan that didnt come across in the movie very well, Is that since the accident, Time all happens at once for him, He begins too see everything happen at once but doesnt get involved because to him, everything has already happened. This gives him some kind of onmipotence

1986, originally published as 12 monthly comics by DC then as a trade paperback, a collection of the original 12 is worth quite a bit I believe.I haven't seen the movie yet as the only release so far has been the cut down cinema release, I'm waiting for the full release and I'll wait as long as it takes. (hopefully for this christmas) .
Considering this is the movie I've been waiting for, for 23 years, I thought it was bloody fabulous. I'm so glad all the previous intended versions weren't made. Snyder has done the source material proud. I honestly think Alan Moore is a bit of an arse if he doesn't come around regarding this.
