... this bloke would go back in time and then become another person in that time. And he had to complete some sort of task in order to ensure the future was OK.

Each week he'd be a different charactar and the first 5 mins of the show he was always having to work out who he was and what he had to do.

And I think he had some sort of mate in the 'real world' who would help him on his quest.

Or maybe I dreamt it all. That's what I'm being told by SWMBO.

And yes, I have had a drink this evening, thank you.

Quantum Leap

eta - and it had nothing to do with the future being ok - he just had to sort out the "leapee's" quandry before he leapt again.

And his mate was Sam - played by Dean Stockwell, who was one of the Cylons in BSG.

Was that the one with a plane crash at the start and he got out OK? And a big sign fell down and hit him in the head?

Excellent!

I'll sleep easy knowing that this show did actually exist, even if it was not quite as I remebered it..

Great show, did he ever get back home? Haven't watched this in years. Recently started watching Louis and Clark on Virgin, lunchtime cheesey fun. Oh and I'm at college, hence the lunchtime viewing. Its either Superman or Jeremy Kyle.

Nope.

And I made a mistake earlier - Sam was Bakula's character's name. Al was his mate.

No god gave him the choice of going home or continuing to help people. He carried on helping people

So who was the Ziggy character that Al often referred to with his little computer. I was only a bairn when I watched this.

Nah, that was a music show for kids - bit like the 6 5 Special.
