Did anyone else see The Gadget Show which was a race between a Smart car and a stunning, stunning Gallardo Spider from London to Plymouth albeit Suzie decamped onto a train and he decamped onto a million pound speedboat halfway through. The "gadget" pretext overlay was about wireless technology and phones blah blah....but it was Top Gear really.

I missed that one because the show is utter st and the presenter are morons.

I managed to catch that race, I wouldn't call it 'Top Gear' though as there wasn't the mucking around that usually goes between the presenters.

A fair share of the production team work on both 5th Gear and The Gadget show...

OK, Top Gear without a predictable and unhilarious script. wink

The Gadget show has been doing this for a while now. Head to head competitions, not necessarily involving point to point races in cars admittedly.

Like with Fifth Gear I sometimes watch to see the items reviewed and blank out the presenters and their drivel!

Stopped watching the Gadget show about 2 maybe 3 series ago. It was just getting stter and stter! Oh look Suzi wins the challenge. Oh look Jon Bentley looks out of sorts with technology (which I doubt personally!) and Jason loves something with the Apple logo stuck on it. Even if it's ste really!

Well it is no surprise really, Jon Bentley used to be a Top Gear producer. He moved over to produce 5th Gear and then the Gadget Show. Thing is though, the Gadget Show is hugely better than 5th Gear.

I only caught it by accident. It was Suzi and a black guy with an odd hair style who I assume to be the new presenter. It is all a bit Blue Peter.

I thought the 'wired vs wireless' race was really silly, and they do seem to be copying Top Gear.

Was it a yellow Gallardo Spider?

I saw one in Plymouth month or so back and wondered what the hell it was doing here?

No, it was a light gunmetal. He also ditched it in Salcombe (yeah, right) to catch the boat.
