seen the trailer for this and it just makes me mad that that is what our uncompassionate governments would do i.e. fight over alien technology and hold aliens here against their will then spin it in a favourable way...

This should be very good, obviously proof will be in the pudding. Pilot done in South Africa, then Perter Jackosn got involved and they did the full film in South Africa, will be a mix of unlikely hero and government mischief.

In 1945 exactly that happened with the capture of Nazi scientists, and the sectorisation of Berlin between the allied powers.

The same guy who was in charge of the V1 and V2 rockets which killed thousands in London was made an offer he couldn't refuse to come to the US. 20 years later he headed the propaganda was against the old 'allies' of Russia in putting man on the moon.

It would happen the same again...

Random fun fact. More workers were killed making the V1/V2's than civilians killed during their deployment.

I too am keen to see this film, a sci-fi spin on aparteid is fantastic, I am guessing the nearest similar film would be the Alien Nation franchise, which follows a similar theme.

Thought I had misread the TV last night until I saw this post - thank heavens!

Looks like a good film so worth a punt.

It is actually a pretty good film, the South African accents aren't too grating, and you meet a space prawn call Chris

It's a must-see for any self-respecting sci-fi fan. I saw it earlier in the week and thought it was the best film I've seen for quite some time. Think Alien Nation but grittier.

I saw the trailer before Iglorious Basterds and it looked pretty good, I'm interested to see what Peter Jackson can do in the Sci'Fi' genre.

It's a shame that the Peter Jackson Halo adaptation never happened but hopefully this will be much better.

I have been contemplating seeing this film. For some reason I am thinking it will be cheesy. If u know what I mean? Is it? The alien looks so generic and obviously fake in the previews I thought. But I want to believe it will be good. Guess I just have to see it.

No script either. Well, not in the conventional sense. The lead improvised on the spot. And he's never acted before either.

I have to say this was one of the best films i've seen in a long time. This is on the basis that a) its original. b) its not all farkin americans who all think aliens only come to the USA and c) a top quality performance from the lead and some of the associate actors.

Overall i couldnt recommend it enough. I also think it has classic status written all over it.

Watched this on friday, very very good, i like the way its filmed seems abit different from the norm, more like the cut scenes of a computer game infact. Plot was excellent.

Actually, I meant it as an endorsement, ie it's even more impressive when you realise that.
