BBC Link

Can't remember his particular episode, and whether he was just another one of the self-publicing 'look at how much money I've got' ones, or whether he was one of the (few) genuine good guys.

Still, quite a fall.

its sad either way...at least he got to give some money away, but I'm sure the people he owes too wont see it in the same light.

Didn't he fit central heating into a family's house and renovate a youth centre? I seem to remember him being a genuine bloke. Good luck to him.

yes, i remember his episode.

he donated a load of money to keep the 'Salford Lads Club' going, and expanding, and donated workmen/materials for renovations to the building (the SLD is a Youth Club set up in 1903)

"Property Developer Chek Whyte initially donated £15,000 towards repairs as part of the programme, then subsequently paid for roof repairs and has become involved with the club long-term."

Also he got involved in helping the residents group that had been fighting council CP orders for 10 years, or at least get the council to move one way or the other, and the families where living in limbo - the threat of CPO was there, meaning the houses couldnt be sold... except to the council, who was only offering a pittance. Chek provided lawyers and expertise to help the group stay in the their homes.

As least the guy is attempting/promising to pay back those down the chain that he owes money to, unless this is another publicity stunt to try and keep his name out of the mud....

The attitude of many these days, especially self quickly made millionaires, and especially property tycoons who find they have got too big too quick having ignored the warning signs is to fk everyone and look after themselves without giving a damn about all the small fry that they have left deep in the do do...

So he's already been bankrupt before,is a disqualified director and owes 5 million quid to unsecured creditors. And they insist on calling people like this entrepeneurs.
