I've had a chilled out evening, the wife went to bed so I put on one of my favourite films - Leaving Las Vegas.

I've seen it more times than I care to remember; I think it's a fantastic film; it grabs a hold of me and just doesn't let go.

Now, I know there are many great films out there and so on; I'm not saying this is the best and by heck I couldn't, but is there anyone else here that thinks this is a fantastic film?

The fact that Elisabeth Shue is so damn sexy is for another thread. what the fk has happened to her?

From memory, this could have been the last 'proper' film Cage has been in. I do like Cage's screen presence - I daren't say "acting" ability although he has done well, this film being a case in point. The first film he did that caught my attention was "Wild at Heart". Fantastic Lynch film. "This snakeskin jacket is a symbol of my individuality and belief in personal freedom". That line sticks in my head - that and "listen to the deep sound of Bobby Peru", my giddy aunt I could go on with quotes from that and it's must have been about 15 years since I last saw it!

The point of this post is really just me sharing my opinion about a film I love, but, to raise a few q's:

1) What's your opinion of "Leaving Las Vegas"?

2) What the fk has Cage done since, of any note?

3) Where the fk (gratuitous swearing I know) is Shue?

You're right, it is a great (if depressing) film. Proves Cage can act despite the crap he normally appears in.

The Mike Figgis soundtrack is pretty cool too smile
