This time they are Going Postal! My tagline by the way!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1219817/

With Charles Dance (who is learning to play the ukulele by the way bow) as Vetinari and the welsh chap from Coupling as Moist Von Lipwig. Dave Suchet is the nasty Reacher Gilt and Angua is played by a Norwegian girl who looks quite good.

Let's hope they get a new editor in for this one, directed (unforunately) by Vadim Jean again. Maybe the slight improvements in pacing they made to Colour Of Magic over Hogfather will continue.

We will wait and see won't we...

Wasn't that impressed by the Hogfather or Colour of Magic, hopefully that're going to do better on this one. Can see Charles Dance being good as Vetinari.

Think my main issue with TCOM was that David Jason really didn't suite the part of Rincewind.

yes He was pretty cool as Albert but I was disappointed to see him as Rincewind, too old in my view. Sam Gamgee was completely wrong as Twoflower as well. Hiro from Heroes would have been perfect. thumbup

Loved the chap who played Filch in Harry Potter as Cohen though. rofl

I'm a huge fan of Pratchett but the Sky TV shows just don't do the books justice IMO.

The difficulty with Jingo is that the relationships between the characters in the Watch series have already been established. This is overcome in the books because of the way Pratchett writes but I am not so sure they would translate to TV.

I would like to see the Vimes books become a kind of sub mini series; a bit like Prime Suspect, one story over several programmes then another if you see what I mean.

Now who to cast...scratchchinbiggrin

Agreed. I think Ewan Bremner would be perfect for the role after seeing him playing Inspector Fix in 'Around the world in 80 days'

A bit obvious but I think Martin Freeman would be a good fit, or(sticking with the office cast) Mackenzie Crook has the right look.

for vimes you would need someone quite nasty, more of an anti hero than a true hero maybe sean bean but not sure on this.

They seem to be jumping around with the books they are filming. Why not film more of the earlier books to establish the 'regular' characters before moving on to later books?.
