Two films I saw on TV 20 years or so ago, and it's bugging me what they are - so can you identify them?

1) a doctor (I think) wakes up to find he's somehow switched dimensions, his wife is estranged in this world (so he spends his time unestranging her), and she is dying - there is a cure, but it hasn't been discovered in this dimension yet.

2) A 'spy' involved in espionage ends up sealed in a small hideout, with the bad guy outside, and escapes with an improvised crossbow made out of his pet cat (I may have mixed book and film here, but I think they are the same thing).

Wouldn't mind seeing these again, if someone knows what they are.

Chrikey, that one was ages ago (1976 apparently) and may have been a TV only, it was called 'Rogue Male' and starred Peter O'Toole, excellent stuff even though I was a mere strip of a boy. It was also a book.

Excellent! Actually I've never seen the movie, I studied the book at college (though had obviously forgotten the title years ago) in the early 1980's. I caught part of the film a years later on TV (unaware there was a film til then) - though the film I saw part of may have been the 1941 American version. The book is still in print.

Just looked it up following your link, seems there was another movie titled 'First Blood' loosely based on it yikes

One down, one more to go...

Eureka!

"Quest For Love" staring Joan Collins, 1971, based on a book by John Wyndham.

It must have been on the curriculum, as we studied it at school at around the same time. Seem to remember it being one of the few books I was "forced" to read that I actually enjoyed.
