Seeing as it came on straight after the much hyped Flash Forward I guess it got pretty good viewing figures, personally I watched it because I met the guy in the middle of a welsh forest at 4 o'clock in the morning a month or so ago and thought what a down to earth, genuine, decent and genuinely funny guy he really was and this to me has just reinforced it what a thouroughly good program and I'm genuinely looking forward to the rest of the series.

it struck me as a less well-researched version of Billy Conolly's New Zealand prog. Too many places packed into too short a time, poor detail and his PTCs are really poor.

I liked the bit where the chap was talking to him and says "Jesus will be looking after you" and RN says, "Does that mean i get a discount on me insurance?" and the weird aussie chap just touches his arm and smiles weakly.

I had better elaborate, we were both racing in a 24hr enduro which was 18 miles a lap and went right out deep into the forest, I had too much strain on the electrical system of the bike as I was running 2 hid headlights and a hid helmet lamp off of the bike (the helmet should have been on a seperate battery) anyway I had a full electrical failure and lost all power and lighting, so I'm sat there in the pitch black in the middle of forest with only a cylume light stick for company when Ross Noble pulls up, he asks if I'm ok - yep, do you want me to wait with you? - no don't worry mate I'll wait for a travelling marshal, then off helmet and comes out with oh fook it i'll wait anyway as I need an excuse for a break, so we ended up having a fag & half an hour sat in muddy ditch in the pitch black talking about bikes and general sh17, he had a TV crew with him in the pit lane and they were filming for inclusion in upcoming programs and dvd's but I found him a truely decent guy with a great sense of humour living his life to the full and using his fame and wealth to do what he truely enjoys and wants to in life.

I will add that I'd never even heard of him before the welsh forest incident but that had no bearing on it at all. So I watched last night really out of curiosity as although I'd met him I had no idea about his stage act or anything, and I was impressed, yes sure Billy Connoly has done it before on a trike etc but I thought this was more a case of one bloke financing his dream of exploring ALL of Australia by filming it and doing stand up in the most obscure and small Aussie towns, one thing about his act I noted is how topical it was the whole thing seems to be done almost on the cuff and made up of incidents within the last day or so.

thumbup Thanks for that - I must admit I did wonder what the situation could be!!

Nice to hear that is actually as down-to-earth as I imagined (although his comic style couldnt be further from down-to-earth!!)

I've got a few of his DVDs and I quite like listening to his own commentary of his performance... just because he's an interesting chap to listen to really!

I thought it was pretty good, Billy Connelly's version is more a couple of jokes and a load of culture whereas this is a couple of jokes and random "That woman is probably Peter Andre's mum" moments.

This must have been the most difficult travel program ever made, everywhere he goes is an utter sthole

"You may be wondering why everything looks like it was hit by an earthquake, well thats because there was a earthquake about five years ago and nobody can be bothered to fix anything"

"There is a nice lagoon over there.... but its broken"

hehe

I liked the way he thanks all the people coming out of the cinema for going to his show, then realises that they've just come out of a film being shown in a different part..............
