The reason they got rid of Carol has now become clear.

The government has finally worked out that people are living too long. So they have decided to dress the new girl on Countdown like a Vegas cocktail waitress so that all the old guffers crank themselves off so much that they either die of heart seizure or excessive dehydration.

Johnny was telling me all about her last week, think there was an article in the paper? I believe she's in her mid 20's (?) shops with a stylist, and buys and wears clothes befitting for her age as opposed to wearing frumpy cardigans and slacks befitting for the audience...or so Johnny said!
