Apparently Channel 5's Fifth Gear is for the axe. Marmite.

Shame, the show wasn't particularly great but it was still watch-able show about cars

VBH back on Top Gear?

She'd be a great replacement for Hammond.

She's still gorgeous at 37. cloud9

No she really isn't. She's just the only female car show presenter.

I've seen her in real life a couple of times and she doesn't even deserve a second look. Looks like an over-stressed single mum who hasn't got time to make-herself-up properly.

Plus she is godawful-annoying, Hammonds bad enough, we don't want some 10 times worse.

As for 5th Gear.... Oh what a terrible shame.

Whilst it was at times utter drivel, it was still a "car enthusiast" show, and we are not exactly in a position to be picky about them..

If this was in General Gassing it would be 5 pages long by now.

Absolutely. I just wish instead of axing the show they listened to some of the criticisms and done something to improve it. It wasn't ALL bad, and apart from that Tim Shaw guy the presenters were all ok. Vicky was hardly in the last series (I don't really mind her) and Plato, Jonny, Ford and Tiff were all pretty good.

It's a shame. It is/was the only car show on TV. I recall watching Top Gear and not even seeing a car for half an hour.

The two young tts were irritating (although I think Johnny did actually know about cars) but Tiff and especially Jason were great.

meh. havn't watched it for years, the show-to-crap ratio was far too high- seemed about 40% programming for 60% advert breaks/competician/telling you whats coming up next etc etc etc. Impossible to watch without a PVR. Not so bad in the older days before they saw top gears new take on the car show format and decided to concentrate on ripping that off as much as possible, shame because with such limited car enthusiast programming theres scope for programmes to have different formats and directions. I mean, you can (and do!) slate the "used car roadshow", but at least it's honest, it has it's own ideas and niche.

And VBH is a irritating bint overcompensating for having zero actual personality who's money/connections allow her to play at being a TV presenter.

Henderson?
Perry?

Have some bloody standards gentlemen! Both are self absorbed average to poor presenters who like to surround themselves with men to be the centre of attention! Neither SHOULD get a second look on the street. Neither justify their position on their shows!

Back ot

Shame about 5G. They did however bring it on themselves a bit by copying the worst parts of TG. They should just have kept to the road tests and interesting stuff that TG deem irrelevant.

Tiff does this stuff so much better than Clarkson powersliding around on their test track forever! The BBC will however use 5th Gears demise as proof they should continue to dumb down the show...

It'll love on forever on Dave though wink

(Maybe they'll adopt the format and bring us a sensible car show - like Driven used to be)

Real shame they're axing it, it wasn't great but it wasn't far off.

If they had removed all the rubbish (celebrity driving challenges, those two in the studio) and expanded the good bits it could have been really good! Tiff vs. Jason was always good, and I thought Jonny Smith had a lot of potential as a good presenter if they let him do more than 2 minute used car reviews.

Still, the only source for this news so far is the Daily Mail so I hope so much that it's wrong!

Hopefully they'll make a new format show to replace it. Keep the good bits, lose monkeys in the studio.

I think they brought it upon themselves. Trying to ape Top Gear was never going to work. they should have carved a niche as a proper car program with informative reviews and consumer advice, not a platform for those 2 'wacky' nobheads.

It's a pity it's going to be axed. I did enjoy watching it, and I agree that Tiff and Jason were very good. VBH was also quite good on the programme, but I wouldn't want to see her back on Top Gear. I think that programme's moved on from her time on it.

no no no no. To both FG being axed and VBH joining TG. She is horrible. Hate her. Cant imagine her doing the challenges with Jeremy and James. Huge NO!

That's a shame,

Watching Jason and Tiff throwing cars around their circuits was brilliant TV, sublime car control!

Tiff's ability to throw around a fwd hatch, with it completely sideways, and be completely unphased doing a piece to camera at the same time, never failed to make me chuckle.

would be great to have him on TG, get rid of that idiot Hammond and replace him with Tiff!

has the tide turned against Hammond now then?
