Dear Hollywood, please stop it immediately.
Discussion
Stop remaking great British films. Or even American ones for that matter.
For some reason this really bothers me. Perhaps I should just get over it, but I find it annoying and arrogant.
Some examples:
Great Film: / Utterly s
t Remake:
Day of the Jackal / Jackal
Get Carter / Get Carter
School for Scoundrels / School for Scoundrels
Fever Pitch / Fever Pitch aka A Perfect Catch
The Thomas Crown affair / The Thomas Crown Affair
etc, ad nauseam.
I can't think of any at the moment that have been remade and are better, willing to consider any offers....
And while you're at it, don't nick stories from Polish-born British novelists of the 19th Century and turn them into Vietnam films without acknowledging the original work. Piss poor drills. w
kers.
Yes, I am bored

The Thomas Crown Affair. Everyone says the original was the best, but I think it's pooh. The remake is much better.Edited by andy400 on Tuesday 20th October 12:33

Akhira Kurasawa classic The Seven Samurai - Brilliant
Hollywood remake - The Magnificent Seven - a little dodgy.
Thomas Crown was not remade by Hollywood, Pierce did it himself back mostly by Irish Money. Actually I like this film quite a bit - watched it last night - its very good.
I agree that the Brosnan Crown Affair is a good film, and decree that it is not an 'utterly sHollywood remake - The Magnificent Seven - a little dodgy.

The remake is alrightish. The original sums up an era so perfectly it could almost be a time capsule.
There are rumours on t'internet that these films are being remade:
Arthur
The Birds
Clash of the Titans
Clue
Conan
Death Wish
Fantastic Voyage
Flash Gordon
Footloose
Highlander
Logan's Run
My Fair Lady
Poltergeist
Red Dawn
Red Sonja
Romancing the Stone
Short Circuit
They Live
I think any film starring Michael Douglas should be remade (with somebody fit, good-looking and thoroughly fanciable playing his part)
Arthur
The Birds
Clash of the Titans
Clue
Conan
Death Wish
Fantastic Voyage
Flash Gordon
Footloose
Highlander
Logan's Run
My Fair Lady
Poltergeist
Red Dawn
Red Sonja
Romancing the Stone

They Live

Perhaps you just have to be really old to appreciate it

I sincerely hope that anyone and everyone involved in the remaking of these two in particular dies from some disgusting skin disease. (most notably)
Arthur
Highlander
O.P. is quite correct, Hollywood remakes are almost without exception excrement. In fact, the only one I can think of was quickly mentioned.
