Love this. Have studied history at most levels and Marr can tell a good story.

Anyone see the first one? Politicians have certainly changed, you wouldn't get Brown egging Cameron on to get killed in Birminghambiggrin

Good series (as was A History Of Modern Britain), although personally I prefer his books as I find on TV he jumps around like a child on Christmas morning.

It was on offer (hardback) for £8.99 in Waterstones about a month ago should anyone be interested.

Ejoying this series as I did the first. Wish he would stop trying to do impressions though. He's not very good and it detracts from what he's saying.

This has just ben ace. The amount of lil snippets that I have learned aboot UK life from 1901 - 1945...simply ace.

Last one had Second world war in it. Monty, Tom Wintringham and Churchill.
Shame that Tom Wintringham had the Home Guard training took off him. The stuff he learned in the Spanish CivIL WAR SOUNDS LIKE THE BASIS OF THE COMMANDO TRAINING.
And the Tizard Mission. Giivng away the crown jewels, and it paid off!

Shame Churchill listened to Frederick Lindemann instead of Tizard. Dresden seems to be a direct consequence of it.

I think Marr can do some great stuff. He has an excellent podcast 'start the week' or something similar.

I was quite impressed when he admitted there was a 'liberal bias in the BBC" a while back.

Really enjoy his story telling and his impressions (all the same, just a gruffer Andrew Marr!)

Can't get over his odd skelatal freakish head.

This is the kind of thing that the BBC does so well, and no other broadcaster comes close.

One of the best series of the year IMO.

Had quite a similar feel to Kevin Mcloud's 'Grand Tour' in that is was clear they were both very passionate about the subject and managed to get it across in a simple manner yet not dumbing it down.

If you all enjoyed that then I recommend you attempt to get hold of A History Of Modern Britain through your handy bittorrent client. Its occasionally repeated on BBC Four, but not that often, and you can't (as far as I know) get it on DVD so the internet is your only option really.
