Yep - shes got The Metal written all over her!

Better off without her son! I just hope to high heavens she doesn't weasel her way back onto the scene just to get her face on the telly.... oh...

I've only been watching this about 5 mins on C4+1. Unbelieveable achievement. I would have struggled to go round the world using scheduled airlines at 16.

He's being pretty insensitive really. He doesn't seem to realise how hard life is for his girlfriend. She's got to go to rehearsals and watch One Tree Hill and everyfink. All he's got to do is sit on his arse while that tub finds its way home.

No one's going to want to go out with a guy who's sailed solo around the world anyway, so he should consider himself lucky to have her.

felt his dad was living his life through his son

fair play to the lad though, he achieved what he set out to do

what a fantastic adventure nonetheless

Yep indeedy. Lots of very odd moment to boot and whilst we know in hindsight he/they achieved it - it seemed pretty bloody foolhardy.

Dad at 5 mins in : "Need £1m, can't do it for less, if we do it we do it right!"

Dad at 10 mins in : "Well we've got £200k, lets have a crack anyway, oh and we can't afford for me to follow you now son, so best of luck".

It really was an amazing achievement and I think he showed alot of maturity and mental strength. . you really could see him starting to crack up during that long stretch after Australia though.

thing is Potter's Bazzar doesn't really seem, to me, to be the hot bed for people who want to sail solo around the world

Do you have a theory? You sound sceptical.

just appears odd to me that if the guy was really into sailing why he'd base himself in the London suburbs

I think he missed his opportunity when he was a lad and now he made his son do it

The sheer enormity of what he was doing was plainly lost on his girlfriend.
I was staggered to watch that documentary last night, what a stunning achievement. I'm not entirely sure he Should* have done it, but i could'nt think of a more well suited, strong, clever, determined, responsible 16/17 year old boy to have a crack. Comparativly to our chav's finest its mind boggeling.Bravo and well done. Regarding his father... well certainly paralles with Lewis hamilton and his robo dad.....

I do hope he becomes wealthy on the back of this.

I started watching it and planned to see what else was on... but couldn't drag myself away from it.

As for his girlfriend ending their relationship, or making it more difficult than it could have been, I don't think she did anything wrong. It's not like she did (well I guess she didn't) what many other teens would when their partners are away for months. They'd be on Jeremy Kyle trying to convince the lad that the kid is his...
