Just been watching an old B&W movie called The Sniper.
Quite good, about a chap with a disturbed mind and a hatred for women, and you guessed it, he goes around shooting women.

Filmed in 1952 the movie has a couple of features still seen in today's films

1) the fold up, easy dismantle/assembly brief-case rifle
2) perfectly steady scope, 1st shot = dead

my questions....
ARE there guns that can be taken apart in simple seconds that fit in a brief case (i dont need to buy one, I just dont know if something that fits together with such ease would be strong enough to fire high powered rounds)
and aslo... assuming youve pre-calibrated your sniper scope... can you take it off, put it back on and have it as accurate as before without needing to fiddle with it again?

answers on the bag of a well thumbed copy of Guns n Ammo please all you Survivalists...

With some you certainly can. Pretty sure Accuracy International rifles can do this, but they may be in a minority there.

Also, it's not a rifle, but how cool is this: biggrin

It would be cooler if there was a hole to put your finger through so you can fire it while in the case.....

They're way ahead of you - the trigger is in the handle of the case.

only on piston heads would questions about sniper riffles be filed away TV, film and radio.

Just because the question was prompted by seeing a rifle in a film!

jesus what are the mods on

Yeah it can be done, That was one designed by Eugene Stoner (smart man) for aircrew for a survival rifle that was easy to store in an aircraft cabin/cockpit yet still have range and be easily carried.

With the right mounting system once you've zeroed your scope you shouls be able to take it and put it back on again without loosing the accuracy. The new sights the army are using allow them to switch between the day sight and night sight like this.

Have a quick look through that scope to see if you can spot a dictionary.

Since this is a movie thread...

If you want to see that in use (albeit incorrectly), watch "the Replacement Killers"

Correct way to use it is horizontal, two hands, and then fire.

Watched that the other day. He was quite impressively inaccurate with it biggrin Presumably holding it just by the handle the recoil would mean you just end up shooting the floor.
