It's based on solar flares or something, so happily mmgw free.

Yeah, nothing man made.

It's a bit silly though, you'll be laughing at bits of it if you know anything about cars/'planes!

This film looks crap, Jonathon Ross hated it and most of the reviews are terrible:

Have fun!

Watched it last night, SFX are great, but it is the usual run of the mill Hollywood storyline.
There are limousine’s outrunning (and dodging, with all the dexterity of an Elise!) collapsing buildings and tectonic shifts, and little low powered aircraft out running (and dodging!) pyroclastic (sp!) clouds – and of course, the dog survives, whilst the ‘baddies’ get their just desserts.

Worth watching for the effects, but standard ‘written on a fag packet’ script.

Overall - disappointed

Am I right in think it's a Roland Emmerich film?

If so, I don't know how you could have expected anything other than what you describe! biglaugh

It's Independence Day 2, but this time the destruction comes from below rather than above.

Utter bilge.

If the sun gets hot enough to cause the convection currents in the earth's mantle to increase in activity, surely the atmosphere and oceans would have already boiled away?

Thanks all!

Went to see the film last night, my god its long! A true brain off popcorn film.
But it was a bit of fun with a few friends so no real complaints from me.
