They don't make 'em like the used to....
I was staying at my Grandma's in 1977 when this came on the telly.
The Finishing Line
I was eight years old.
Gave me nightmares for years.
I have read somewhere that it was only broadcast a couple of times before being withdrawn for being too disturbing.

This one always seemed to be on in my day,

I think this one is just as relevant today if not more so.
People tend to speak as they find. I could never understand how people got killed on level crossings.
Until a few years ago, my only experience of them was a laborious affair, waiting for ages, only for a small commuter train to trundle past at 30 mph or so. I could see why drivers or padestrians might become impatient and not wait for the barriers to lift. But even so, I thought they must be pretty dumb not to see the train. And after 20 years of driving extensively, I was still baffled.
Then one day I happened to stop at a mainline level crossing. Feck me. From audio warning, lights, barriers down and return was 50 seconds
And a further two came through in the next 10 minutes!
Intercities at full chat. That opened my eyes I can tell you. I'm sure if this point could be got over to the public, you'd probably eliminate most of these accidents.

Cant be arsed to post the vid links, but the lines from PIF's that stick in my mind (I'm 37, so we are talking early 80's)
"Would you like to get in my car?....."
(punch and judy don't go with strangers)
"Oim in complete control of the situation"
(road safety - donkey driving a car or similar?)
And the one where the couple are waving at the guy out at sea trying to get the coastguard

I loved the road safety and health and safety cartoon types that were often run on Saturday afternoon during World Of Sport.
My favourites were -
The Honking of the Weaver Bird - about lane discipline on motorways
Isaac Newton told us why - about working at heights with heavy objects
Sailing Dingey - about how to report an incident seen out at sea
They were humorous and effective - so much so that I can still remember many of the lines
