Just picked this up from the BBC, and apologies if a repost, but this is worth checking out.

The Bolivian producer of this film uploaded it to Youtube in November after producing it on a "very small budget" and has since picked up a £19m contract to produce a full length sci-fi film.

Cracking stuff, and good on him.

Looks cool, I hope the ending isn't America saves the day though.

No, that is so last year. Its Climate Change to the rescue (as in TDTESS).

That is an amazing piece of work and an example of what is doable nowadays, without massive budgets. The tech has come on a long way.

Some plant-pot sent the director a message congratulating him for getting the money for the film, but to him to make sure it has a plot!! What a knobhead!

I remember the first time they did this, it was called Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and oh man, was that st. Even Angelina Jolie couldn't save that turd. Anyone able to suggest why this might be better?

I think the point is not whether the final film will be good or not - but rather, here's a chap who has made an impressive short, on apparently little to no budget - and has then been spotted and invited to go big time. I really like the short but maybe that's because I know what's involved and how talented he must be to have brought that together.
