I watched this the again the other day and saw the documentary on him. Odd in itself but also a shame.

Thanks for that. I remember the doc. Kim Peek was an extrodinary man.
Forgotten this bit!!

His reading technique consisted of reading the left page with his left eye and the right page with his right eye and in this way he could read two pages at time with a rate of about 8-10 seconds per page.
yikes

This was interesting too.

But unlike many savants, Peek showed increasing social skills, perhaps due to the attention that had come with being perceived as the 'real Rain Man'.
His father says that his sense of humour had been emerging since 2004 or so.
Also, he had developed well beyond the stage of being a mere repository of vast amounts of information; his skills at associating information he remembers were at least one of the signs of creativity.

Both Him and his father did a lot to show people about ACC, its a shame, they were fantastic ambasadors for it, he also could read a book , one page with one eye, one with the other. (information on it can be found on Nationtional Organization for Disorders of the Corpus Collosum)

Terrible shame to loose such an amazing guy. He showed what the human brain is capable of of.

Thanks to the OP for this, have obviously seen the film, but never knew it was based on a real guy. That documentary was rather eye opening, and i'm kind of glad that his dad out-lived him as how could he survive without him, but he must be devestated.

worthwhile watching the documentary if you get a chance
