Is it just because Patrick Swayze is wearing tight tops?

The girl is at best described as plain looking, she's supposed to be 16 I think, she looks about 32.

The sound track isnt very good.

Plot is fairly thin, it just seems a selection of various montages thrown together. was it team america or south park with the "we need a montage" song?

My GF must have seen it more times that I've seen Star Wars, Terminator and Aliens put together, and thats a lot. She's seen the stage show once and is going again in the new year.

I just dont get it... and she cant describe it to me other that "it's great".

Any ideas? or should I just chalk it up to THE MENTAL

ETA Oh Pissing hell, I made a typo in the subject....

Really can't explain why.

I do love the film (though have probably only watched it half a dozen times over the years!)

I'm not exactly attracted to Mr Swayze in the film but I do love the initial innocence of Baby's character and her optimism.

I also used to like dancing but could never hope to dance as they did in the film but wished I could, Most of the music is pretty good to.

Anyway to sum it up it's just good smile

Well, maybe they see it as romantic, but in a non mushy way?

Mr Swayze was, at the time, hot property. This must have helped.

As chick flicks go it's quite good really.

Not my favourite movie by any means but I wouldn't say it is a bad film.

Seriously?

It may not be your cup of tea but "isnt very good" seems a bit harsh considering some of the music legends who's stuff was used......and the title track won an Oscar a Grammy and a Golden Globe - what would they have had to have done to make it better?

Aw, shucks, you'll make me blush with compliments like that! redface You are too kind, thank you. bow

I do think that most films could be improved with the addition of exploding alien space ships though...

Dirty Dancing > Damn Dirty Alien Scum Dancing
Remains of the Day > Remains of the Alien from Zarg
Saving Private Ryan > Saving Private Ryan from Invaders from Mars

I reckon Uwe Boll would have a go at some of these hehe

Its because its just so perfect, baby's innocence, the way he falls for her, he comes back for her, he stands up for her 'no one puts baby in a corner'

Perhaps because Patrick Swayze could actually dance pretty well and he had that certain something and story-wise it's got all the key elements. Also his real life persona was pretty much irrestible. He had sex appeal, married his childhood sweetheart, lived on a ranch, bred horses and came across as pretty grounded.

You can't have the man, but you buy into the story. Now, what't not to like?

You've stepped onto the path to madness, trying to apply logic to a woman's thought processes.

Best stick on "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" to see how this one is ending up.
