Following on from the funniest film thread, I noticed a lot of Will Ferrell films mentioned, which got me wondering what the consensus as to his funniest film was?

Obviously he's been in a lot (did you know he was in Zoolander?), but for me Old School is far and a way the funniest film he's been in, simply because he's not the focus of the film and the other characters complement his character so well (particularly Mitch).

Well, in that case, why don't you two get a room, so you can pat each other on the back about how clever and funny you are, whilst those who are interested in the subject can discuss it here. smile

I liked him in Stranger Than Fiction.

He wasn't particularly funny in it, but since you spelt the title wrong, I'm allowed to answer with it!

Step Brothers - that made me laugh far far more than I was expecting it to.

I wouldn't call my post "angry" - you two stated your views in what I view to be a sarcastic tone, so I stated mine in an equally sarcastic tone. I even included a smilie to try to take the edge off. smile

Anyway, back on topic, Anchorman has it's moments, but Old School tops it because of these, to mention but a few, *** spoilers below ***:

Frank the tank streaking and being caught by his wife, then asking if KFC will still be open, Frank shooting himself in the neck with (the mulleted Stiffler's) dart gun and him singing at Blue's funeral are, IMO, some of the greatest cinematic comedy moments of the past decade.

Like I say though, the film is made because each of the characters is funny in their own way and it's not all Ferrell.

Sounds more like Old School to me... I myself prefer Anchorman.

I've not seen alot of his films.. msotly because I've seen the trailer and thought they looked gash. I did however enjoy Talladega Nights and I thought Anchorman had it's moments.

Old School was amazing, will Ferrell is brilliant in it. Anchorman is a Masterpiece but.........

......my favourite (and thus funniest) Will Ferrell film is Blades of Glory.

I can't really explain why but it's just has me in tears, Chaz Michael Michaels is just the funniest character ever, and Will Arnett Strons Van Waldenburg is brilliant.

To be honest anyone who says that there are no funny Will Ferrell films is just a very very sad person.
