Just watched the cove the mr's can't stop crying.

Dolphin lovers everywere should watch this film truely heart wrenching stuff.

Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, The Cove follows a high-tech dive team on a mission to discover the truth about the international dolphin capture trade as practiced in Taiji, Japan. Utilizing state-of-the-art techniq...ues, including hidden microphones and cameras in fake rocks, the team uncovers how this small seaside village serves as a horrifying microcosm of massive ecological crimes happening worldwide. The Cove exposes not only the tragedy of dolphin slaughtering in Japan, but also the dangerously high levels of mercury in dolphin meat and seafood, the cruelty in capturing dolphins for entertainment, and the depletion of our ocean’s fisheries by worldwide seafood consumption. We also see how the mandate of the International Whaling Commission has been manipulated by the Japanese Fisheries Agency for its benefit and its subsequent effect on the rest of the world. To find out more about the film and how you can get involved, go to TakePart.com/TheCove.

"...I don't give a crap about whales so go and hug a tree
No he can't, no he can't, no he can't read my poker face..."

As has been mentioned what's so special about Dolphins? Why are they better then Tuna or Cod or Prawns or Chickens or Pigs or Rats or Wasps or any other animal?

Dolphins are the racists of he sea.

You can’t of seen the film if you are comparing it to farming livestock.

Any way I’m not here to stuff my beliefs and ideals down your throat I was just posting what I thought of it. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.

Just a dame shame you can’t have a conversation without all the pee taking.

It is more than that. They are intelligent enough to have a culture. Dolphins are not fish and Tuna and others do not have culture as far as we can tell. But dolphins are like the primates of the sea, along with the other Cetaceans.

You need to stop telling other cultures that you are not a part of how to live their lives. We have (or should I say 'had') fox-hunting. The Spanish have bull-fighting, and the Japanese have whaling. You have no right to cast what Disney has fed you onto the ancient traditions of the world. We, human-beings, are top of the food chain. Welcome to reality.

We have every right to if we feel it is wrong. Dolphins and Whales are highly intelligent, Whales especially are endangered, and the Yangtze river dolphin is now extinct. The Blue whale was going that way before the ban. Whaling isn't a big part of Japanese culture as is made out, the Japanese government would like to have more people eating Whale in Japan, even so just because people have done it for centuries does it make it right? Are we as ignorant as people from that time or have we realised that other creatures are capable of intelligent acts and culture? Does Japan have the right to make these intelligent creatures extinct through malicious spite?

So Dolphins should be protected because they are more intelligent? Other less intelligent animals can be killed without care?

Thats is the stupidest view ever. Do you have a complete hierachy of animal intelligence so we can decide what to eat based on how stupid they are?

Animal right activists are the thickest people on earth, the only want to protect the cute lovely animals that the can stroke and get cuddly toys of. 9+ million rats per year are mashed-up in sewer clearing machines, why don't you try and protect them from their horrible death.

Either you protect all animals or none of them.

It's not quite so black and white. You assume a lot in hose first two sentences. Don't believe I said owt like thatrolleyes Cetaceans are intelligent, they are like primates in the sea. But if we ate on intelligence there are a few posters who wouldn't make itbiggrin Animal right activists are not the stupidest people. Cetaceans are part of the ecosystem, we don't know what would happen by getting rid of a link such as them. But it doesn't matter to stupid and ignorant people. And as said they are intelligent, but it is more than that, they had a culture and are tool using creatures who pass on knowledge through meme not gene. I doubt it would be practical to defend all creatures. Rather a ridiculous/childlike argument to say all or none! Rats I do not believe have culture? Or are endangered? And as part of their ecosystem they have swamped it. I am not sure a rat can learn human sign language.
It used to be the view that humans were special, better than animals. It was black and white. Then science progressed and we realised we were an animal, and there have been different types of humans, along with the realisation that not all animals are so far below us, especially some that live in an alien world like under the sea.

I'm off to Japan in 2 days, I shall be taking part in any cultural eatings the have, whales, dolphins and anything else. It's their culture and I shall be embracing it.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but if it's on the menu I shall be eating it.

When a group of Dolphins can build this then we can protect them:

They are aninmals, they are no better than any other animals, the Japanese are no different to us eating Chickens and cows, stop being so ridiculous.
