What a travesty, I mean honestly Snow Patrol with Chasing Cars!!!! It's not even their best song, not a patch on "Run". Such a load of boring drivel, I feel cheated. Surely The Killers "Mr Brightside" should have been a better choice.

I'm sure the PH'ers have other ideas so lets hear them.

This is what you get when you let 'the public' decide.

Yeah I'd agree - it's not their best song, Run or Set the Fire to the Third Bar are both better.

Out of the songs they listed, Mr Brightside's probably my favourite. Not sure if it should've been song of the decade though.

I'm not a big Snow Patrol fan, IMO their songs always seem to drag a little bit. Strangely though I am a Killers fan, but can't stand Mr bloody Brightside. My vote would probably go to practically any song from Springsteen's album Magic (if I had to pick it would be 'Girls in their Summer Clothes', or 'Livin' in the Future').

On the other hand, my favourite invididual song is Wire Daisies - Make Everything Change. Even though hardly anybody has heard of it. And it's not on Youtube. But it's good, I promise wink

Interestingly though they said that chasing cars has been in the charts for 130 odd weeks, longer than any other song in history.

The problem with all these types of shows is that you cannot realistically pick a "best" song etc.

The Killers song would have been my choice for the top spot out of all the songs that Channel 4 featured but there was a lot of good stuff from 2000 to 2009 (I hate the phrase "noughties"). The Channel 4 chart confirms what I have always thought that the people who can be bothered voting in these things don't actually like music apart from what is drip fed to them by Radio 1, Cowell etc.

My top 5 in no particular order of the noughties (*#@!!),

1. Encore by Jay-Z
2. Knights of Cydonia by Muse
3. Enjoy The Silence by Johnny Cash
4. Ladyflash by The Go! Team
5. Ocean Spray by The Manics

Please feel free to tear my list apart and let the PH Collective hear your top 5.

If it's going to be a Killers song then surely it has to be 'All These Things That I've Done'??!?!

I got soul but I'm not a soldier, I got soul but I'm… (wanders off, humming)
