I can't believe D9 is on so many a top list. That movie was horrible, I turned it off 30 min into it. Eviction notices to aliens, give me a break.

Oddly I can think of any.
Watchmen definately.

No other film this year deserves to be on any best of list. A massive pile of dissapointment.

Drag me to Hell
Moon
District 9
Zombieland (sorry, had to mention it! I really liked it, but have only seen it once)

I disagree with Daniel1...I think it's been a great year. I thought that before I saw Avatar, most other years 500 days, Drag me to hell or moon would have made a worthy 'best film of the year' for me, to have 4 films of that quality in one year is very cool. And I still haven't seen adventureland, Sherlock holmes, funny people, inglorious or loads of others that sound good.

Interesting, you can buy the superheroes and villains premise (including the giant blue guy) but not the 'illegal' aliens metaphor...doubly odd in that in watchmen you are asked to just accept that's how things are, but district9 does lots of work to make the world as realistic as possible.

p.s. before I get flamed...I really liked watchmen.

p.p.s. biggest disappointment for me was Up. Huge pixar fan but the talking / flying dogs and comedy/paper thin baddy was too much for me. Started off so well, but degenerated into rubbish Saturday morning kids cartoon, the other pixar films are very good at appealing to adults and kids, this one didn't. Disappointing after the very sophisticated wall*e

Star Trek
District 9
Inglourious Basterds
The Hangover

That would be the top 4

I also liked - Friday the 13th, Terminator Salvation, Taken, Crank: High Voltage, Drag Me to Hell, The Taking of Pelham 123, Orphan, Law Abiding Citizen, Zombieland, Halloween II and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Give it another go, the first 30 mins were a bit slow, that's the documentary section but after that it really picks up.

Though Up was ace and well up there with Pixar high standards.

Forgot aboot Terminator which pretty good.
Pelham 123 will always be poor comapred to the original, and with Travolta as the lead!?!?

What was Zombieland and 9 like?

Taken, forgot aboot that!!
