According to Jonny Smiths Twitter feed, Fifth Gear is returning again.

That was a short cancellation.

Lets hope they take this as a chance to re-jig the format and presenters and not try to be a second rate top gear rip off.

They seem to re-jig the format every series and nothing seems to work. Instead of trying to be like Top Gear, they should look at becoming a car consumer show again. I always thought Driven on Channel 4 was a good show and would be a good format to use as a basis.

I quite like Fifth Gear.

Plato, Tiff and Jonny are all decent presenters if you ask me.

Great news! woohoo

The format will be changing according to Tiffany Dell:

Tiff said:
Glad so many of you are delighted by the Fifth Gear news - and, yes the format will be moving away from the stupid ... but still having fun!

and Jonny Smith

No Top Gear chasing - just straight to business with grassroots reviewing/comparing/buying/giving away cars.

...but it'll still be saddled with adverts, 4 pieces showing what's coming up later, 3 items promoting the competition and I'll wager the first 'crashing stuff into other stuff' piece will not be long in making an appearance. It'll still be a reasonable 10 minute show in a 1 hour slot...

Yup Driven was a quality show and didn't focus to heavily on pure fantasy cars

Like the partnership with the Autosport show?

I really look forward to seeing Tiff reviewing under-car lights...

we need to 'have a word' with jon 'MP3' bently about all the coming up next crap.

its the same with his other prog the gadget show.

i would have johnny doing the studio bits and consumer stuff and get tiffany and spud taking the fun stuff round ty croes like they used to.

thats my opinion and im sticking to it!

If they can actually make 48 mins of TV instead of 18 mins of TV and 30 mins of 'coming up next' and 'later in the show' I might actually try and watch it again.

Saddled - as in, unavoidably burdened. As I'm sure you knew.

Any news when? At the moment it seems Five haven't made any official announcements about whether its been dropped or a new series is coming.

And as such thus only appealed to a minority market, which is why it was dropped.
