Watch out. Sky launch their 3D service in April/May - they have been running 3D trials for about 18 months. Sky HD STBs will be able to receive 3D programmes but at present there are no 3D TVs out there. However Sony are due to launch one this year, so I guess the other manufacturers will soon follow.

Bet your boots we will be bombarded with Sky adverts saying "You don't want that junky old HD TV get a new 3D model instead!"

But you'd have to sit at home wearing funny glasses like a plonker.

They had some of these 3D tellys on display at St Pancras before Christmas and the effect did look incredible but it only worked if you were sitting square infront of the screen, if you were off to one side slightly then all you saw was a very blurry image, similar to those rear projection sets.

Perhaps, but it looks bloody good now, and it'll look bloody good in the future too.

It's amazing, but new 7.1 amps don't make my venerable nakamichi any less good either.

We've got one in one of the coffee areas at work. It might actually be an add-on box that converts to 3D.

Looks impressive but as the previous poster said, you do need to be directly in front of it otherwise it looks a bit cock-eyed. You also need to be a fair distance back (10 feet+), otherwise it does boggle your eyes after a bit. And that was on a smallish screen too.

I DON'T LIKE 3D, IT DOES MY BLOODY HEAD IN.

For me, it's Star Trek Holodeck, The Matrix or NOTHING.

Very good. I'm now wondering if I can have my eyesight permanently altered by laser to get around the need for the 3d glasses? Seeing the real world could be a problem afterwards...

Give it a couple of years and the price will drop to a more realistic level.

3D Tvs are not the future as far as I am concerned.

Most people do not sit dead straight to their Tvs and there are other problems such as nausea etc.
