Just a vehicle for Ricky Gervais to try and be funny, he fails miserably.

Really no good? frown

I saw the trailers for it and thought it had potential to be a belting film, very good idea but obviously not lived up to its possibilities frown

I was idly perusing the BT Vision films this weekend, to see what was new. Downloaded "The Hurt Locker" on Saturday and that was very good. "The Invention Of Lying" was also in the new films bit, so I thought I'd give it a go, as I usually like Gervais' work.

Dire. He was very funny in "The Office", but he should have stopped there. How the hell he managed to convince Hollywood that he is hot property is beyond me.

Avoid.

I have a feeling he should have just left the original script alone...once he got on board i can just imagine him adding all the "god " stuff.

However....i "discovered" Louis CK through this and got some of his stand up - now he is funny.

Very much a RG fan myself, but this is truly a shocking film.
