Haven't watched it for many many years, so I don't really care. In fact apart from Midsomer Murders and the Sun afternoon Columbo I rarely watch ITV

I used to watch it every week but since the 'new' format it just doesn't work for me any more. Hopefully they'll fill the time slot with something watchable!

When it first started it was 'must watch TV' for me but then the story lines started getting far fetched and really silly. It was the storyline about the officer having a fling with the blonde detective womans daughter who was close to being underage IIRC was the last time I watched it.

That's a shame but for the first time in years I stopped watching it a month ago. I simply don't like the new format/feel. I also see that they normally win the best TV drama at the TV awards but weren't even listed this time round.

The Bill was a very good programme, but like all modern dramas they just could not leave it alone.
Changed actors, changed from life on the beat and that was its slow downfall. I must admit you cannot do loads of 30 min episodes on rescuing the cat.

The new 'gritty' over colourised, arty farty, no content version just did not work. Its a typical 'we know what the public wants' executive fail.

I know they said they were after doing more 'realistic' episodes hence its later screening time, but all I saw (before I stopped watching) is who was shagging who

And some of the casting was a joke. Who was that shortarse ex Eastenders actress (yes I know its half of them)? Laughable.

Mainly filmed around West Croydon I think. Bob Cryer was frequently spotted on his motorbike.

Not me, haven't watched it for good 5 years (at least) now.

Viewing figures must speak for themselves.

I am gutted... have watched this religously since day 1...

Only a few months ago they were saying it generates huge advertising revenue... (which ITV were sadly lacking) surely I am not the only person who likes this?

+1

Biggest load of crap on the tv and has been for a long time.

All the criminals are murderers, rapists and pedos and so are the coppers, then repeat the same stories with different characters over and over and over again.

I think the new format was a mistake.

I used to watch it every week, when it was a fairly realistic police procedural. I think back in those days you rarely saw them out of work and virtually all of the characters were how you imagined the police might be.

I used to watch the Bill regularly until a few years ago. Then I just lost interest in it. It didn't help I was doing a lot of late shifts. I watched the very first episode so it's a shame in a way it's coming to an end but like everything these days that are ratings driven, if it's not getting the viewers then it's axed.

Haven't watched it for a good few years, used to be good with Cryer etc. but as othrs have said it dropped the gritty policing & got into other areas & lost the plot.

It was good back when it was an hour long drama, but the soap format didn't work for me at all.

Not surprised, the amount of times that station has blown up it makes Afghanistan look like Wisteria Lane

Superb! Now all we need is Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Dancing on Ice and every other ste Dance/Talentless shows to go the same way and TV might actually start to be worth watching again. BBC need to follow suit and get rid of their ste aswell.

not watched it for over ten years.
it turned crap when they stopped doing self contained episodes and started draging out storylines and involving their personal lives too much.

The end of the last of the Thames TV stable of Cop shows.

Like most on here I stopped watchign it years ago. It was when it became too personal. Jim Carver's drink problem, the wierd June Ackland storyline - Micky getting buggered.

I don't think cops shows need to be THAT realistic - tacking "issues"

But to contradic myslef - you needed characters that you could sort of beleive in.

The Bill was at it's best when you had a proper hour long format - once a week, Bob Cryer,Tony Stamp Bunside, Derek Conway, Viv Martella, Ted Roach and a Chief Super who was playign the typical role of a top cop not giving his whole support to his officers.

It should have been chopped long ago.
