Lost - moving along nicely now

This is meant to be the last season right?
I watched it up to the end of 3 I think and just got bored. In my opinion this has been a seriously over-hyped mess. At no point has it really felt like it had a direction since the first season finished (which I think was fantastic).

Gone home. Come back to the island.
Travelled back to 1970 and lived on the island for 3 years in 1970.
Set off a nuclear bomb.
Travelled back to the current day.
Sunk the island.
Also, locke is the black smoke now.
It's a clusterf
k. But I have to see how it ends just so i can act angry with everyone else when it's a s
t ending. So no-one else thinks this (and last) series has "woken up" a bit then?
I only started watching in the first place because of "assurances" that the producers and writers had the whole story mapped out. Then they got into series 3 which was nothing more than a filler, and I lost interest but found that the time and day of the week that Sky broadcast it to be convenient enough to watch anyway.
I have always thought it would be a lovely life to be marooned as they are, given the intrigue and general fight for survival. I suppose it's nothing more than a counterpoint to the general mundanity of my office-tethered working life.
Anyway, last series really picked-up. This series is a bit weird but I'll stick it out now.

Oh yes, this series has really woken up the first few episodes raised as many questions as they answered but the ricardo episode was very strong. Loads of questions answered however one glaring problem that if they are dead how did they manage to go back to the real world.
I would be interested in knowing from a maritime persepective if it is possible to be carried miles inland on a stormy swell though. I would also imagine a woden boat although strong would find it hard to push through a 50ft statue that probably couldnt bear its own weight to start with.
Loads of new plot questions though like, captain hanso, hanso foundation part of the online game how does that link?

I'm not convinced they are dead. I think Ricardo thought so, but I'm confident that events have disproved that and it was just a plot device. Having said that, it has been a constant question from the beginning but I'd hope "we're all dead" plots were all used-up with the death of Dirty-Den and Bobby (Dallas).

I think the 'Am I in hell?' bit was the writers explicitly answering the fans who suggested it was all some form of afterlife. The answer was no - Richard says he thinks the island is hell, but then Hurley sees his dead girlfriend, implying that they are all alive.Definitely enjoying the story right now... it's moving along and we're getting answers. Not sure how it's going to end with the whole 'parallel universe' thing going on with the main characters though. There's certainly still room for a whole 'and then they woke up' ending, which would be annoying.

Ah yes, that's a good consideration.Tuna said:

I would be so annoyed with an unsatisfactory ending. I was left feeling deflated by the ending of BSG, and Caprica is so uninvolving. The sheer number of unanswered questions was irritating. I can't see how the Lost Producers can tie-up all the questions outstanding.Mars said:

I think the last two series were really good, but the current one is a little weird, not sure I like the whole flash sideways concept.
Another quality episode last night.

If it was about a plane crash, and the survivors' past and interwoven histories - it could be a good story and have a good ending.
If it was about the Dharma initiative doing experiments on the island, and being at war with the natives - it could be a good story and have a good ending.
If it was about time travel - it could be a good story and have a good ending.
If it was about alternate realities - it could be a good story and have a good ending.
If it was about a religious battle/good and evil - it could be a good story and have a good ending.
Given that its seemingly about all of these things and more, no explanation they can come up with now will answer everything (or even half of the going's on) and still satisfy the people who have been stupid enough (yes, I'm in that group sadly) to watch it this long

I agree. This has been my favourite show since it started (prob for the wrong reasons) but I just know the ending will be poorIf it was about the Dharma initiative doing experiments on the island, and being at war with the natives - it could be a good story and have a good ending.

After the first episode, many mused they were neither in heaven or hell but in purgatory and it was poo-pooed. It seems to have been poo-pooed again but the line about Jacob guarding the island as a"bung" to contain hell's evil seems a reasonable one. The concept of one of the characters being a replacement for Jacob also makes sense and his ability to place them in Time to ensure a particular outcome is credible.
