Thought I would give a heads up on this for any BSG fans who refused to buy the DVD.

There aren't any spoliers as such to give away in discussion, and in some ways that is indicative of the content. Don't get me wrong, I was a huge fan of BSG and have been waiting for The Plan for a year, however I was left a bit 'meh' by it.

It was interesting to see from the Cylon point of view their guerilla tactics which played out in the first series of BSG, and that filled in a lot of holes which of course were impossible to give away the first time around without revealing who the Cylons were.

The other interesting factor was that it outlined how each of the Cylons who infiltrated the humans actually preferred being 'human', which gave an interesting standpoint which was only touched on in the last series.

Apart from that though, I did feel a little let down. The film opened with the destruction on the colonies without much discussion of 'why' - which was the whole point of the concept. Indeed, the timeline seemed to end abruptly somewhere halfway through Series 2, without really much absolution.

I guess I was kidding myself that it was going to be a really new insight which changed the concept of what you were seeing - a bit like when you see a film with a huge twist at the end which changes everything, and you see the film for a second time you get a whole new insight. To that ends it left it still a bit wanting, it seemed very much like old footage strung together with a small amount of new footage to make a (star) buck to get people to buy the DVD.

Worth watching but a bit of a disappointment IMHO.

Pre-oredered this on Blu-ray from Amazon before I knew SKY had this. Kind of wished I hadn't now. As a 'fan boy' curiosity item, it's good but unless you've seen the series, you'll be totally lost. The opening sequence with the nuking of the 12 colonies, the Battlestar Atlantia getting pasted and the attack on the Scorpion Fleet yards are awesome but a large percentage of the 'film' is stock episode footage used to link 'The Plan' together.

Sadly Ron Moore was too busy overseeing 'Caprica' & 'Virtuality' when this was made and it shows. It doesn't flow.

They really should have gone into the backstory of the original '5' on Cylon 'Earth' and how they created the 8 models (7 if you're being picky), their re-discovery of Resurrection technology and how Cavil conspired with the old Cylon Centurions to destroy the planet and kill the 5 creators only to later download them on the 12 colonies. Cavil gave a brief synopsis of this later in Season 4. It seemed to be a richer story than what's just been presented.

Curiously, they've not used some of the deleted scenes from the last season in 'The Plan'. There are a few scenes that were cut showing how Cavil got the Cylon agents and the main sleeper agent 'Boomer' into place. They are on the extra's on the season 4 dvd/blu ray if you're bored one evening.

If you're curious about Battlestar, watch it from the begining or at least give the stand alone episode 'Razor' a go.

I didn't even know this had been made, and I have all the BSG box sets! I watched it and thought it was OK, and miles better than the huge disappointment that Caprica has turned out to be (part soap opera, part Beverly Hills 90120)
Agree with some others, it really didn't 'enlighten' me any more than I already knew...

I got disappointed with Caprica after about the 3rd episode and got worried it was disappearing quickly, I am glad to say though that the stories have picked up and I am really enjoying it.

I find the 'virtual world' aspect quite interesting, and I think there is a lot more to be explained of how the original prototype cylon becomes the race.

That said, I can't see it being played out over 4 or 5 seasons...

50/50 on getting a second.

I've watched BSG totally the wrong way round - started with the plan. It just came across as a chaotic mess. But at least it was good enough to get me into then watching the mini series, then all of the main series.

Caprica though ... it does seem a little slow, but I'm only about 5 episodes in.
