I really enjoyed the first episode. In a lot of ways it's got the 'feel' of the wire in the writing and direction but the music's frikkin ace!

I am just hoping that the first episode is a slow start. I will say that I don't get the whole New Orleans jazzy, Mardi Gras culture thing, so its going to take a bit of effort to sit through the music and hope a good story reveals itself.

Any idea how long until FX / C4 etc pick this up? Wondering whether it's worth trying to try and track it down ..ahem elsewhere!

I enjoyed it. It had 'The Wire' feel to it, lots of real life people taking on roles that would normally be played by actors. Loved the music too. I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes. It has already been granted a 2nd season too - http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5...

Second episode on the way smile

Have watched the beginning of the first one twice now, love that opening parade scene with the bunk coming up late. Looking forward to lots and lots of kick ass music in this series.

I even bought a random New Orleans funk CD the other day paperbag

Have watched the 2nd episode now, the direction of the various story arcs is becoming a bit clearer. The music was excellent. The only downside, Elvis Costello really can't act - his dialogue sounded very wooden.

Does anybody know if a UK channel has purchased the rights to this yet?

Looks good! Cheers for the heads up. I really enjoyed Generation Kill so this should be well worth a watch.

Just got around to watching this (at last). I was prompted into it by my mate's anecdote involving the meeting of Wendell Pierce (Treme star and the legendary Bunk Moreland in The Wire) in a bar in New Orleans!

Anyway, four episodes in and Treme is absolutely brilliant.

I enjoyed it, not as much as The Wire, but still very good. Strangely I really liked the musical side of it, I didn't realise how much I enjoyed jazz/blues whatever you would describe that style of music as. I wonder if they will find some way to build the current oil well disaster into the next season, it does seem that New Orleans is getting hammered by one thing after another at the moment.

The urge to re-watch The Wire is now pretty strong though, I think I might have to buy the box set....
