They have a million quid in cash, in 25k bundles.

They then have to answer a question with four possible answers, and they place the money however they wish (but one of the answers must have no money on it) and then it reveals the correct answer, and all money placed on the wrong answers drops down a hole.

They have 8 questions to get through. So far not many people have got past about the 5th question, but I assume that they choose the contestants who aren't exactly Mastermind champions....

The fact Davina has something to do with it, was enough for me to avoid it like the plague.

There are some right idiots on it, I saw a bit of the first episode with the two women. The question was 'which of the following places is 30deg C right now', baring in mind this was about 10.30pm they put a sizable chunk on Cairo. When Davina pointed out to them that it was 12.30 there they just went 'oh yeah'.

She's not quite right for this type of show, but still, it's the contestants getting in a spin that makes the show worth watching. And watching them at the last minute stick 100k on a completely stupid answer...

Discussing it last night. We agreed that because they are coming down from a million, people seem to thing 'stick 100k on a completely stupid answer' isn't big money, but when people work up from 0 to a million on Who wants to be a millionaire they are st scared.

"You're live on the Million Pound Drop, don't say fk or bks"

When I saw the title and her on the trailer I thought it was about people putting up £1million to have her hanged.

Having seen the trailer I totally wrote this off as utter cack but it's not completely awful, kind of an intriging premise as well although watching with the g/f last night I did find myself geeking out and trying to find a mathematical solution to it all...hehe

It's (yet) another one of these shows with an incredibly weak concept and the sole selling point is the large amount of money involved. (c.f. 'Who wants to be a Millionaire', 'Deal or no Deal' etc etc)

Agreed. But it's still fascinating to watch people hedge their bets with 500k in cash...... The attitude of them towards huge amounts of money, as I said above, they just stick 100k on an outside chance... I think the poster above is right, it's the fact that they already have the money instead of working a la millionaire to win it.

Plus they don't get to guarantee any money, they have to have it left at the end of eight questions.

But yes, in the main the draw is that there is 1 million which they "could" walk away with - though I rather suspect they interview the contestants to make sure they are not on Eggheads etc.......

Do they really give the winners the prize in cold hard cash? I can't imagine the government being too chuffed with people swanning out of C4 Studios with anything from £25k to a million in cash

I thought winnings are tax free anyway?

But I'd not be too chuffed to be on a live programme then roaming the streets with £50k+. Although its anonymous location, the audience have managed to get there.

I should imagine that there is security and the audience have their mobiles and bags taken off them which I guess would stop them arranging for an accident to happen to the contestants........

I was thinking more along the lines of money laundering implications.

Davina says that at the beginning, but once everyone is out, who knows.

But I'd imagine its the same 1 million everyone plays with and a cheque is written. They'd have to go and get more cash and then more stupid bags with £25k on them every day. It's probably not even real.
