Stirling Moss/Ian Wooldridge Mille MIglia
Discussion
Hello - I am trying to track down the name and possibly a copy of the BBC2 1992 documentary of Stirling Moss and Ian Wooldridge doing the classic Mille Milgia in the 722 MB 300 SLR he won his famous 1955 victory in.
I cannot seem to find it via the BBC website or the usual internet searches and was wondering if anyone knew the name, production company or had a copy which I could purchase or borrow?

I have it on VHS tape from the original broadcast.
Moss was extremely competitive and got very narky with Wooldridge when Wooldridge made a few navigational and timimg errors.
EFA: When Woolridge was proved to be utterly useless at anything and whoever PR person who thought it a good idea to put him with the competitive Moss who took/takes the task of being Stirling Moss very seriously indeed needed shooting. I've still got it on VHS as well. It needs putting on Youtube, not least for the coverage of that magnificent car. I remember the bit where Moss gives the chase driver (Mike Wilds?) a roasting (just because he had to roast somebody) then sets off in anger in the SLR. Wilds was able to keep up in the Merc support car and the crew films some great footage of Moss overtaking as much traffic as he could.
Was amusing to see Moss and Hammond laughing at some clips of that programme. I think even Moss was taken aback at the language he had used.
The reason Moss was so angry was because he knew that lots of people had turned out for a chance to see Moss in that car, but because Woolridge couldn't read map nor roadbook, they ended up driving the route after everyone had gone home.
Greetings ynotroines,
Idly looking through YouTube items about Mercedes historic racing cars, whilst the distaff side was absorbed in 'Downturn Abbey', the notorious film of Moss retracing - with still the second syllable having significance for the driver, if not the occupant of Jenks's seat - his 1955 Mille Miglia exploits, swam into my consciousness. I understood the film, of which I've of course heard, but have never actually seen, to be generally unavailable, being disapproved of by the Great Man. If you have yet, a recording that you'd be prepared to share, I'd very much like to take you up on your offer as posted above. An eMail to: dropbox1943-repository@yahoo.co.uk I hope will find me.
Best wishes,
Needless.
