There taking the piss, our local cinema's gone up £3 in the last few months, and they're charging extra for the 3D glasses! I can see why they're pushing the 3D, without that I'll just rent the dvd/blueray.

Our local cinema is a vue, and at £5.75 up till about 8 at night, i thought that was quite steep, then i visited sineworld in sheffield. After 5 pm its extortionate, think its about £9 a head for adults, during the day think its about £7 a head for adults

Cineworld in Sheffield is awful. The cinemas are too steep (meaning if you're at the top you're well 'above' the film) and it feels crap. It's also rammed at nearly every reasonable hour of the day.

And it's full of chavs. Lots of chavs. Just a hell hole in general.

Paid $10.50 adult / $8 child for 3D yesterday (matinee).

Regular price for evening shows at the IMAX is $10 adult.

Best of all is the Keystone arts cinema, $9.50 and they let you take buckets of cold beer in from the bar next door! biggrin

Donny one isn't anywhere near as bad. And, believe it or not, Shorpe is great. You can go in for a 9/10pm showing after 2/3 weeks and often be in a 10% full cinema.

If you go to the cinema more than 2 times a month it is worth looking at their loyalty schemes.

Cineworld do a card that costs £13 a month and you are allowed to go to the cinema as often as you want .

It would be fantastic to open your own cinema and do it your way:

1. 10 quid for a ticket but unlimited water, soft drink and popcorn.
2. Bigger chairs with real height difference between you and the one in front.
3. Clean.
4. Good sound system but not ear bleeding.
5. Properly dark.
6. Over 21's only
7. Strict 'No Noise' policy
8. A couple of screens showing films from previous times, not just the latest. Imagine a screen dedicated to older films, and imagine:
5.00pm - Goonies
7.00pm - Goodfellas
10.00pm - Jaws
12.00pm - The Exorcist

etc, etc.

A cinema for film buffs, now thats an idea....

Wish I had a cinema that offered such a scheme nearby, all I've got within a 20 mile radius are Odeons who only seem to offer a points based loyalty card.
