In a recession there are bound to be more people casting around for a brilliant idea to make their fortune.
Which may be why this series will, we're told, see a record number of hopefuls walking up the stairs to make their pitch.
Tonight, they include an inventor who wants to bring road signs into the 21st century, a vineyard owner from Devon and a mum from Preston with a growing frozen pudding business.
In straitened times, they can expect those testy Dragons to make them sweat more than ever. Filling us in with enough recaps to keep a six-year-old up to speed is the cheery Evan Davis.

Been looking forward to the return of decent TV only I wish Evan Davis didn't keep repeating himself every week

I've really gone off this programme since I read the advert in a University innovation centre asking for Businesses- you had to talk to a "member of the production team" about the idea
In other words, not whether the business model was good, but whether this would make good TV. A perfectly good buisness idea seriously lacking in funding (which is very hard to get these days) could fall by the wayside because the person knows too much and wont make a fool of themself on TV
