Absolutely. And more to the point when he's doing all that physical labour and working in -30 degree temperatures, how much does the guy eat to stay that big?!!?

i sort of enjoyed it, but felt it wasnt quite 'in depth' enough. it was more a 'look at this giant building move' sort of thing. i was hoping they would have explained more of how they got it to move, how were those dolly's powered etc?

That was some "builders bum" he had!

With all that weight and the stress of moving stuff like that, I'll be surprised if he makes retirement age.

Moving that brick building across 5 miles of city, with all those people working on it, days, disruption and the old wreck of a brick factory that it was.

Surely it would have been cheaper to build new on the plot than move it.

Yeah, I saw that episode and thought the same.

I also thoguht the 'manager' dude came across as a bit of a tt. Very 'gung-ho' rather than being a careful considered kind of guy. He also seemed to bully the subbies a bit. (Brick pointing man and graphic design man.)

I caught this today too, couldn't help but sit and watch. Having that kind of attitude has obviously helped this guy alot in the past, but did it not strike anyone else as a very poorly planned project? For a start, wheeling a 1000tonne building upto a railway line and only speaking to the rail company when you get it there seems a bit 'wing & a prayer' to me!

He didn't though did he. He had been in touch with the rail company for 2 months and it was only when the building was being moved they decided it might damage their lines so kicked up a fuss.

Bad acting when they say "we'll have to go and talk t the Art centre and see if we can cut down those trees" That would have been something they would already know they were protected before starting, but not knowing about the trees before starting the job makes the whole operation look like Frank Spencer is running it.

Typically American TV, I thought. Unnecessary music and trying to make a movie-type plot out of reality TV.
Having said that I've found it reasonably enjoyable, but less so than Ice Road Trucks of even the recent tree logging series.

Two points, as mentioned:
I, too, couldn't help thinking it would have been cheaper to have built a new building in episode one.

Also, I would have liked it to be a little more indepth - more info about the preparation, as well as how they re-attach the building to the ground at the other end of the move.
I thought $22,500 to move a whole house seemed a little cheap! I was expecting alot more! I guess the cost was increase if you don't have a handy basement!

They have no real history though so anything 100 years old is deemed to be worth saving. The fact that the roads are wide enough to cope with it also helps.
