Has anyone actually missed having Steve Wright on in the afternoon the last few weeks?

As far as I can tell there's been more music and much less up-own-arsery first from Dale Winton and now Chris Tarrant - Chris especially playing some excellent music.

Show now seems to go: News, talk, music, talk, music, travel, music, interview, news, rather than Wrighty's news, jingle, talk, jingle, music, jingle, interview, jingle.... You get the idea.

And the canned clapping too - especially for someone nobody has heard of.

I only ever listen to the afternoon show when Steve Weight is not on the radio. He does my nut in with his annoying sidekick and old woman.

I did snigger when someone managed to get Dale Winton to read out a request from a " Mr R Spandit".

Who is that cringeingly unfunny guy who play an old guy with a (supposedly) funny accent?

He's not been on recently, thankfully.Haven't missed him.

Steve Wright is so lazy its unreal. Basically he's done the same show with the same jokes for the last twenty years. And with the music playlist on Radio 2 all he needs to do is dig an old show out, edit in a couple of new songs and the news and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Can't believe they haven't shipped him out to Radio Quiet by now.
And he's now so overweight he wears those mu-mu shirts that Homer had to wear he got really fat.

Thankfully no Wrighty for another 2 weeks woohoo

Not sure about Lisa Tarbuck though from 5.00 doing drive time. A bit too boring for me.

I've never been a Tarrant fan but I was listening to him in the car this afternoon and I found myself laughing. He was surprisingly self deprecating.

If he(or even Dale Winton) got the gig - I'd become a regular listener.

(Wright's "astrology" segment really narks me as well).

It's definitely better without him.

Didn't particularly miss Chris Evans either.

Sorry - I'm a big Evans fan. He's doing a great job in the mornings.

Dump Wright and bring in either Tarrant or even Winton, and stick a taser up Simon Mayo's arse to inject a bit of life into him.

Actually, here's another thought - re-unite the co-founders of the Shirehorses for the 2-5pm slot? hehe

Enjoying Evans in the morning and Tarrant in the afternoon is very good as well.

I enjoyed Norton instead of Evans - much funnier - and Winton instead of Wright - far far better music. I've liked Tarrant as a presenter since Tiswas but never really liked him on the radio and his "battle of the oldies" is just annoying though it never ceases to maze me why people even ring in.

Steve Wright was good in the 80's with Adrian the Probation Officer before it all went PC. Nowadays, he is the radio equivalent of The Sun with all those repeated ad infinitum factoids and some fraud spouting utter sh*t about starsigns and a fairly crap skip of music, usually replays from earlier shows incidentally. I mean, **** off! They should boot him off and give it to Winton who actually really knows his music.

Lisa Tarbuck always reminds me of a cleaning lady who came in and found the mike still on and she's better paired with that other guy whose name escapes me...Mark Radcliffe is it?

Alic Cooper does the morning show on Planet Rock and he's pretty good as a DJ too.

Winton and Tarrant are a league ahead of Wright (who does talk utter bks a lot of the time with the factoids being truly st too). Currently I can actually listen to R2 in the afternoons and hear some decent music, interviews and actually enjoy.

I wish they'd sack Steve Wright, I have to turn him off, he's so bad. I was no fan of "sucking through my teeth a hundred times" Tarrant either even if his music was better if a bit samey. On balance, sad to say, I prefer Dale Winton. Still not a fan of Evans though I can tolerate him and again, I thought Norton was better.

Seems to me that either there are no decent DJs any more or some they have need to be moved on. Even Jeremy Vine is as lightweight as you can get.

Oh God no - I like watching Norton but thought he was terrible on the radio.

I used to look forward to Johnnie Walker being on when he sat in for Terry Wogan.

I did catch Richard Allinson the other week who i thought did a good job but i think he's a reserve and only gets the gig when the regular one has a day off, or the mad cat bint has a holiday

Alex Lester is good for a laugh as well.
